It comes from ‘seedsman’ Greg Schoen of the family-owned Seeds Trust, who got the seed from Carl Barnes, a part-Cherokee man, how in his 80s, in Oklahoma. He was known as a wizard of corn breeding, and spent years hand selecting seeds from the most vibrant and colorful corns he grew. Barnes eventually passed on his creation to fellow seed cultivators, and word quickly spread of the incredible cobs. It is unknown how many generations Barnes sifted through to create the jewels we see today. But the results speak for themselves.
